The moment I saw the use of old passenger carriages as retail stalls I thought of permanent stalls and tourist boutiques for the railway station. They would make a real boost to the uniqueness of the site (I know: Kingston in Tasmania already has one!). The tie-in with the station and original use of the land is obvious.

Sidney Myer Lecture Mount Gambier 4th September 2012
Vibrant, productive rural communities are integral to the long-term sustainability of Australia. It is critical that people who live and work in rural and remote Australia have access to high quality, relevant and affordable education, training and care at all ages and stages of life. It is essential that people who live and work in urban contexts and provide policy advice to government and others, and who design and manage a myriad of programs intended to benefit country people and communities, deeply understand rural.

The Mount Gambier Charter for Children - Changing How We Do Things
Following an extensive public consultation, on Universal Children's Day in 2014 The Mount Gambier Charter for Children was finally launched.
The Charter consists of nine aspirational principles which provide a guide for our whole community to respect children as citizens and foster their equity and access in order that Mount Gambier's children can flourish to their fullest.
The Charter encourages our community to be bold and creative, to listen to children's voices and support them to be free to dream and explore.
This video shows how the Charter is already changing how we do things.
