The City of Mount Gambier recognises the value of volunteering for the Mount Gambier community.
As an organisation, Council directly recruits and coordinates volunteers and works in partnership with community groups and service providers to support the delivery of activities and programs across the city.
Council identified the development of a Volunteer Strategy within its 2018/2019 Business Plan. This strategy will define a vision and initiatives for Council to support and manage volunteering in the organisation and become a leader in the city.
The volunteer strategy will explore:
our current volunteer practices
our requirements for volunteering and future opportunities in this space
initiatives to promote best practice in volunteering, and
opportunities to better support volunteering within Council and the broader community.

This survey will assist Council to clarify the current status of volunteering within our organisation and assist with identifying actions within the volunteer strategy.
Please note that, while we require you to register with Have Your Say Mount Gambier to protect the integrity of the survey, no identifying information will be reported on in the analysis or presentation of the results.
We encourage your reflection of your volunteer experiences with Council (positive or negative) and the provision of any information that might assist in improving our work with volunteers in the future.
The survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete.

Staff who are involved in the management of volunteers across the organisation are surveyed to identify current practices.

Volunteers are surveyed to highlight aspirations vs experience and highlight opportunities for improvement. A roundtable workshop is conducted with a cross-section of volunteers.
