Consultation has concluded

In collaboration with Tonkin Consulting, the City of Mount Gambier has been working with our community to prepare a Shared Path Master Plan (the master plan) for Mount Gambier.

The positive impacts observed within the Rail Trail corridor, including pedestrian and cyclist utilisation, has highlighted the need for Council to provide an integrated and connected shared use pathways network, to further expand on this success.

The objectives of this master plan are to provide Council with a framework to increase active transport across the City through improved connectivity and shared pathway networks. The document not only considers shared paths, but also footpaths and dedicated cycling paths. A shared path is one that can be utilised by a variety of active transport users – pedestrians, cyclists, people with mobility restrictions, scooters etc.

In 2023, Council undertook a range of community consultation, including a digital mapping exercise, survey and a series of workshops with user groups. This feedback was incorporated into the draft Shared Path Master Plan and presented back to the community to ensure that the document met community expectations.

Please take a look at the Draft Shared Path Master Plan.

Consultation on the draft plan closed at 12 midday on Friday 15 March 2024. All feedback received has been collated for consideration of Council.
