What does ageing in Mount Gambier look like? What is important during the time of retirement? What's great about growing older in our region?
To meet the increased demand for the growing and ageing population, the City of Mount Gambier wanted to re-invigorate council programs, events, social activities and marketing for people over 55 who live in or frequently access Mount Gambier.
We wanted to hear about your needs, interests and experiences of modern ageing in Mount Gambier.
Betweein July and September 2019, one-hundred and seventy-two respondents participated in the consultation which included online surveys, interviews, group workshops and round table discussions.
Questions were framed around 6 key focus areas including:
The delivery of 'Seniors Week' programming
Transport
Local services
Transitioning into retirement
Making Mount Gambier an 'age friendly' community; and
Community Engagement for those aged 55+
Thank you to everyone who participated in the consultation and shared their experiences, thoughts and ideas.
