The City of Mount Gambier is calling for community input into an online survey about the role that Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) plays in changing our perceptions of safety in the inner-city.
In November it was announced that Council would replace 9 out-dated cameras across the City and add an extra 14 to the existing network. This project was assisted by a State Government grant of $40,000 from the Attorney-General’s Department.
The roll out of the new cameras will be the first major upgrade of the CCTV system in Mount Gambier in 20 years.
As part of the introduction of the new cameras, the Attorney-General’s Department and Council is seeking feedback from the community regarding the extent that CCTV contributes to city users feeling safe at various times of the day or night.
Community input will also help to identify the level of awareness of the CCTV network and its effectiveness as tool in the prevention of crime.
To capture the feedback of those who utilise the City about the presence of CCTV, we invite participation in our online survey located below.
