Park & Stride
Park & Stride is about encouraging people to park in an off street car park within the Mount Gambier city centre and walk to do small shopping trips.
It is a unique and innovative way to achieve the multiple aims of improving the vibrancy of the city centre, improving the local economy, and improving people’s health, whilst helping the environment. Walking to do small shopping trips is a simple way that people can improve their health whilst helping local businesses and the environment at the same time.
People who make a public commitment via the website to park and stride for small shopping trips will be eligible for a Park & Stride Discount Card, which will enable them to get discounts and special deals at supporting businesses.
The program will tell the stories of people who park and stride, provide interesting fact and figures (e.g. that it only rains <70 days a year in Mount Gambier during peak travel times), and encourage people to make a public commitment.
