What is a dry area?
A dry area is a declared area where the consumption, and/or possession of alcohol is prohibited.
Where are dry areas located in Mount Gambier?
Dry areas are currently located in the City Centre, Vansittart Park Gardens and Oval, Dimjalla Park and A F Sutton Memorial Park. Maps of the existing dry zones can be found here
What is Council seeking feedback on?
Council is required to make an application to Consumer and Business Services (CBS) for approval to extend its existing long term Dry Area Zones beyond the expiry date.
The CBS now offers Continuous Dry Areas which are ongoing and do not expire after five years as they have previously.
As part of the application process, community consultation is invited regarding Council’s proposal to seek to have the four current Dry Area declarations extended as Continuous Dry Areas which are ongoing and do not expire after five years.
