What will happen next?

All submissions will be reviewed and considered with changes made to the Community Plan. Once this process is completed it is envisaged that the Community Plan will be formally endorsed by Council.

The Community Plan is Council’s key strategic planning document and will guide the future development of the City. It will guide the provision of services and facilities for the community as well as facilitate and coordinate discussions and developments by the Federal and State Government, Non Government Organisations and Private Businesses.

    Why did Council do this?

The Local Government Act 1999 requires Council to have a Strategic Plan to identify Council’s objectives for the City.

Apart the legislative requirement, Council developed the Community Plan to identify the vision, aspirations and priorities of the community now and into the future. It describes our values, how we work together and outlines the strategic initiatives to achieve ongoing sustainability and prosperity.

How was the Community Plan developed?

Council has based the Community Plan on aspirations identified in the Futures Paper, a long term aspirational plan involving the input of 600 residents. The Community Plan identifies those activities within the Futures Paper that Council wishes to focus on over the next four years.

How can the community have input and provide feedback?

Council is encouraging input and feedback on the Community Plan in a number of ways including:

    City of Mount Gambier

    P O Box 56

    MOUNT GAMBIER SA 5290

    When are submissions due?

The consultation on the Community Plan are now open and will close on Wednesday 30th March, 2016
